Identity Thief' Movie Starring Jason Bateman Filmed In Georgia

By Gossip Masta Resource   Posted at  6:30 PM   Gossip : International No comments
"Identity Thief," starring Jason Bateman and Melissa McCarthy, joins the long list of movies filmed in Georgia. The movie is about a man, Sandy, who is tricked by a woman named Diana, who is experienced at stealing identities. When Sandy finds out his identity has been stolen he decides to track Diana down himself and get her to Denver, where she can be prosecuted.
Filming takes place in several Georgia counties, including Telfair County, which recently earned the honor of being called a Camera Ready Community by the Georgia Film, Music and Digital Entertainment Office. Telfair County is among more than 130 other Georgia communities that now hold this title. The Ocmulgee River Bridge, located in Telfair and Jeff Davis Counties, was used for filming, along with Highway 19 in nearby Wheeler County. Telfair County earned the Camera Ready distinction shortly before the filming of "Identity Theft." Being Camera Ready is good for the local community as well as production companies that choose to film in that area. Local resources and location information is more readily available for productions companies and the local community benefits when business is brought into the area during filming.
Conyers, which is located approximately 30 miles from Atlanta, was also used for filming "Identity Thief." The downtown area was transformed into a movie set and many locals enjoyed observing the action. Just a few miles away, at the Georgia International Horse Park in Rockdale, more filming took place. Rockdale has been a popular filming location, with scenes from "Trouble With the Curve," "American Reunion," and "Teen Wolf" also filmed there.
The Georgian Terrace, which was the location for the premier gala for "Gone With the Wind" back in the 1930's, makes an appearance in "Identity Theft" as well. The beautiful Georgian Terrace Hotel was built more than 100 years ago and has served as a location for many important events. One of the stars in "Identity Thief," Jason Bateman, had previously been to this location for filming the movie "The Change-Up" and returned for the filming of "Identity Thief."
Atlanta is used in place of Denver in this film. In addition to the locations already mentioned, The 191 Peachtree Building, the Colonnade Restaurant, and the Perimeter Mall make appearances in the movie.
The film industry in Georgia is thriving and this is having a positive and important impact on the Georgia economy. With the number of television shows and movies being filmed in Georgia growing and the filming of high profile movies like "The Hunger Games: Catching Fire" taking place in Georgia, it seems the film industry here will only continue to grow and succeed.

Elysium : The Life and Career of Ashton Kutcher

By Gossip Masta Resource   Posted at  3:00 PM   Gossip : International No comments
Christopher Ashton Kutcher was born on Feb. 7, 1978, in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, to Diane and Larry Kutcher, who were both blue-collar workers. He has a fraternal twin named Michael who has cerebral palsy and had to have a heart transplant as a child. Michael's illnesses weighed heavily on young Ashton. Luckily, a heart was found to give to Michael, and Ashton rose out of his depression to become a successful actor.
The family was settled for many years in Cedar Rapids until Ashton's freshman year in high school, when they relocated to Homestead, Iowa. It was there at Clear Creek Amana High School that he began acting in school plays, which whet his appetite for acting. Even as he discovered acting, Ashton was arrested for burglary while still in high school. He was acting out as a result of his parent's divorce and got caught, though he luckily didn't have to serve any jail time. He instead had to do community service and was put on probation, but the eventual cost was much higher than that. He had anticipated getting a scholarship to go to college, but that was no longer a possibility after his conviction.
Instead of going to school on a scholarship, Ashton instead had to enroll locally at Iowa State University, where his initial interest in modeling took root. The handsome teen was picked to go to New York City as a part of a modeling competition. He lost the competition to fellow actor Josh Duhamel, but he did manage to sign a contract with an agency. As a result, he appeared in several magazine ads and walked the runways in Paris and Milan. After arriving back in Iowa after a few modeling gigs, he used the money he got modeling and moved to Los Angeles to pursue acting as a career.
It may have been beginner's luck, talent, or a little of both, but Ashton's first audition upon arriving in Los Angeles got him the part of Michael Kelso on "That '70s Show." Most actors have to toil for years as extras or in tiny supporting roles before getting a lead role on a network comedy, but Ashton didn't have to wait. He would go on to play Kelso from 1998 to 2006 for a total of 184 episodes. During the summer hiatus from the show, he earned parts in several high-profile movies, including "Just Married" in 2003 with his then-girlfriend Brittany Murphy, and "The Butterfly Effect" in 2004. Even with these big movies under his belt, it was the role of Kelso that helped to make him a household name and an icon for teens everywhere.
When "That '70s Show" ended, Kutcher took on leading roles in films like "What Happens in Vegas" opposite Cameron Diaz and "No Strings Attached" with Natalie Portman. It was during this time that he also became a tabloid magnet because he had just married his much older girlfriend, actress Demi Moore. The seemingly happy couple met in 2003 and married two years later, which set gossip bloggers into a tizzy. They became mainstays on Twitter, often sending messages to each other via their individual accounts while also raising awareness for various causes and charities. The couple endured hard times though, and they filed for divorce after six years of marriage.
Ashton didn't let his personal troubles derail his acting career, and in May 2011, he signed on to replace fellow tabloid mainstay Charlie Sheen as the lead in the CBS comedy smash "Two and a Half Men." Instead of taking over for Sheen's character, he played a completely different character named Walden who moves into the same beach house with the other one and a half men. He also got the highly-coveted lead in "Jobs," the biopic about Apple Computers cofounder Steve Jobs. It was his first stab at drama in quite some time, and the result was a positive critical reaction.
With his high-profile turn in "Jobs," ( watch trailer ) Ashton's career is red hot as he takes on his third season of "Two and a Half Men" and mulls summer hiatus offers. His love life is also red hot, as he has rebounded from his still-pending divorce with his former "That '70s Show" co-star Mila Kunis. Nobody is quite sure what his next project will be, but whatever it is, it's sure to be a big deal.

MTV Movie Review - "StreetDance"

By Gossip Masta Resource   Posted at  12:00 PM   Gossip : International No comments
Street dance is an umbrella term used to describe dance styles that evolved outside of dance studios in spaces such as parks, streets, and open spaces. It's often improvisational and social in nature encouraging interaction and contact with spectators and other dancers.
"StreetDance" fulfills this definition to a tee accept it adds a twist. After troupe leader Jay's (Ukweli Roach) abrupt departure Carly (Nichola Burley) is left in charge and their prospects unravel rapidly. Locked out of their rehearsal space in crowded London the dance crew is forced to work with ballet trainees in a posh dance school in return for free rehearsal space. The manager of the school, Charlotte Rampling, finds that her ballet students lack intensity and energy and that by incorporating street dancing into their repertoire these qualities might be obtained.
The plot is essentially a version of the Step Up films where street dancer shake-up the lives of stuck-up ballet students. It's tutus vs. the hoodies in face-offs at the barre. Soon their antagonism turns to mutual respect and romantic alliances. Carly eyes the buff ballet boy Tomas (Richard Winsor) and they soon become an item.
While the ballet and street dancers finally come together there are formable obstacles to their winning the finals. They include their archival The Surge (played by Britain's Got Talent stars Flawless). Then there's the conflict of ballet auditions and street dance finals being scheduled for the same day. Choices have to be made.
While the plot is a bit cliché the dance numbers are the real stars of this film. Their fast-moving vibrancy hides story flaws yet the cliffhanger at the end makes the journey truly worth while. Young George Sampson, BGT 2008 teen winner, plays a pivotal role in the final scenes making for a resolution that's the best of all worlds
In theatres, this film was released in 3D. Thus, some scenes are set up solely to exploit the 3D effects. I found they divert one from the story, the dancers, and the connections between them. These 3D effects became a distraction and rather than appreciating the show stopping performances one finds one's self dodging and ducking objects flying out from the screen. While the 3D effects gave depth to the groupings as well as the scenic skylines of London, the film might have been better served had the staging concentrated more on the dance and less on obtaining irrelevant 3D effects.
Production credits are first-rate with a vivid palette of colorful scenes and locations. Sound tracks are an impressive mix of classical and rock, and the final dance number hits all the right cylinders. I especially liked the contrast of the two top competing contenders; the disciplined precision of Flawless verses the free-flowing imagination of Carly's group. It's contest of ideologies, that of a dictatorship vs. democracy.
This film will be a big hit with kids and nicely taps into the growing street dance rage. The 3D sequences are targeted more for the video game generation with a lot of screen motion and the simple them vs. us plotting makes it easier to partake of the visuals.
CREDITS: "StreetDance" stars Nichola Burley, Richard Winsor, Charlotte Rampling, Ukweli Roach, Frank Harper, George Sampson, Rachel McDowall and Eleanor Bron. Cinematography, Sam McCurdy; Editor, Tim Murrel; Production Designer, Richard Bullock; Casting, Gary Davy; Costumes, Andrew Cox; Make Up, Darren Evans, Production Manger, Allison Banks; Line Producer, Jim Spencer; Executive Producers, Amab Banerii, Paula Jaifon, Christine Langan & Rupert Preston; Producers, Allan Niblo & James Richardson; Written by Jane English; Directed by Max Giwa and Dania Pasquini; Produced by Vertigo Films; Runtime 96 minutes. Not Rated. Available on DVD.

The Collective :Movie Review - "Road, Movie"

By Gossip Masta Resource   Posted at  10:39 AM   Gossip : International No comments
Road, Movie" is a journey of a young man traveling from indifference to compassion, from confusion to purpose, and argues that there is more to life than money and materialism.
The film begins with Vishnu (Abhay Deol) being encouraged by his father to join his hair oil business as a salesman. The coddled young man wants no part of this boring job and instead volunteers to drive a 1942 Chevy truck to a distant city. Along the way, he reluctantly picks up a young vagrant (Mohammed Faizal) running away in hopes of finding work in a big city. Before long, the old truck breaks down and the boy disappears, then returns hours later with a wise old man (Satish Kaushik) who barters to fix the truck in return for giving him a ride to an elusive desert fair.
Vishnu resents his two passengers yet, to deliver the truck, they become a necessity. Later he is pulled over by the desert police for not having the proper papers. It's more a case of extortion than justice and Vishnu has nothing with which to barter. That is until the cop discovers the truck is a traveling cinema complete with a projector and cans of film. The cop wants to see a film and Vishnu, with the help of his passengers, screens an assortment of unrelated film reels. Suddenly, the projector breaks down and the old man finds a bottle of scented oil to fix it.
The next morning, after Vishnu drives off without his passengers, his truck breaks down again. Now walking, the old man and the young boy pass by and want no part of Vishnu's trickery. He prevails, the truck is fixed and they continue on together again.
There are two stories in this film. One is the poetic journey of these travelers and the other relates to the inhabitants of this stark but beautiful desert. In this lifeless landscape, women continually search for water as a Mafia leader controls all the wells. One lone searcher is a beautiful widow played by Tannishtha Chatterjee and she becomes another passenger on this journey. The Mafia water lord executed her husband, a casualty of lawlessness, for stealing water. She relates and symbolizes the plight of these forgotten desert people.
Numerous encounters test their resilience and compassion. These travelers bond at first out of necessity, yet later they develop a true caring for each other. "Road, Movie" is a memorable odyssey that reminds us how truly wondrous life can be; and that magic can be found in the most unexpected places. One magical moment is when these rural folks watch cinema for the first time. It is a joyous event filled with laughter and makes the trip and the film truly worthwhile.
While entertaining, a minor weakness of this road film is that it goes in too many directions at the same time. It lacks the cohesiveness of a compelling story line, one that builds and connects emotionally to all the facets presented. The social and political issues, the confusion among the young and the plight of those living in this wilderness requires a more integrated story. There is also the ambiguity between what's reality and what's fantasy, and maybe the director purposefully allows the audience to determine which is which. The acting is truly believable and polarizes the adversarial behavior as well as its gradual progression to caring and trusting.
Visually stunning, this film captures the beauty of a vast, barren open landscape. The cinematography is exquisite and the music emotionally stirring. One must also mention the Chevy truck, a battered old vehicle that is a character in itself traveling to its final destination, a museum. It is a treasure in production design as it visually shows its age and its benevolent history. As to the film, some may wonder what is it, a poetic fable, a road adventure, or a social commentary. Maybe it's all three.
CREDITS: Stars Abhay Deol, Satich Kaushik, Tannishtha Chatterjee and Mohammed Faizal. Directed & Written by: Dev Benegal; Producers: Ross Tatz, Susan Landau; Cinematographer: Michel Amathieu; Editor: Yaniv Dabach; Composer: Michael Brook.. In Hindu and English with English subtitles. Reviewed at the Indian Film Festival of Los Angeles. Not Rated. 95 minutes. Available on DVD.
